Child Theme

How to make a child theme

A child theme is necessary if you want to change the style/look, functionality or layout of your site’s theme.

1) Create a folder with a unique name. /wp-content/themes/youuniquefoldername

2) In that folder you will need at least two files. A functions.php file and a style.css file

3) The functions.php file needs to have this code.

<?php
add_action( 'wp_enqueue_scripts', 'theme_enqueue_styles' );
function theme_enqueue_styles() {
    wp_enqueue_style( 'parent-style', get_template_directory_uri() . '/style.css' );
}

4) The style.css file needs to have this code

/*
 Theme Name: Whatever name you want
 Theme URI:
 Description:
 Author:
 Author URI:
 Template:     lcp-stretch
 Version:
 License:
 License URI:
 Tags:
 Text Domain:
*/
